PLURALISM IS NOT RELATIVISM (1): Bruno Latour on climate change denialism

On this very interesting question one should read the numerous discussions of climate change denialism by Latour, who very intelligently outflanks the deniers, and shows that they have no research to back up their claims, that they are not credible “others” whose point of view is to be respected. Latour’s pluralist ontology is not a universal relativism, as this very example proves. The Gifford lectures (Facing Gaia: Six lectures on the political theology of nature) were very clear on this point. Also AN INQUIRY INTO MODES OF EXISTENCE opens on this question and establishes Latour’s rejection of such sceptical and relativist ploys as based on a totally inadequate view of science.
